The large wooden Crucifix stands in the Baroque Crucifix Chapel in Trento Cathedral. The chapel, with a square plan with a dome, was raised between 1682 and 1687 by the Prince Bishop Francesco Alberti Poja to house the Crucifix at the feet of which were promulgated the issues of the Council of Trent, whose sessions were held in the church’s presbytery from 1545 to 1563. The Crucifix was placed in the centre of the church and it was present in all the sessions of the Council.
