The Judgment of Paris
by PACECCO, Oil on copper, 29 x 40 cm
Pacecco (originally Giovanni Francesco de Rosa) was an Italian painter in Naples who brought Bolognese-Roman classicism and the elegance of Domenichino to Naples in the 1640s. This small painting on copper was attributed to Simon Vouet in the past, and indeed, the light palette with the brilliant blue hues together with the classical coolness of the nudes recalls a French style.
