View of Schloss Porcia
by TROST, Andreas, Copper engraving
Schloss Porcia in Spittal an der Drau, built 1533-98, is a cube-shaped castle, framed by corner turrets. It is a rare example of Italian-style palaces on Austrian soil. The arcaded courtyard has three levels of galleries and a typical Renaissance style, with antique medallions, balustrades and door frames.
