Still-Life

The painting shows a still-life of fruits and flowers together with a bird’s nest arranged upon a stone ledge.
Dated examples of his paintings are known from 1778 until 1794, the year of the present painting. In his choice of arrangements and especially in their extraordinary naturalistic detail he was heavily influenced by the work of Jan van Huysum.
