by CASTAGNOLI, Giuseppe, Fresco
Giuseppe Castagnoli was an Italian painter working in the Neoclassical style. He participated in the fresco decoration of some of the rooms in the Palazzo Pitti. The Hall of Niches is located above the main entrance of the Palazzo Pitti. It received its neoclassical decoration under the artists Giuseppe Maria Terreni (1739-1811) and Giuseppe Castagnoli. It took its name from the niches, which contain several classical statues.
