This engraving shows the long wall of the former loggia of the Villa Carducci in Legnaia with the cycle of Famous Men and Woman by Andrea del Castagno.
The villa was subjected to repeated major changes in the nineteenth century, and in 1847 it was decided to remove the badly deteriorated frescoes. The detached frescoes were placed in the Galleria degli Uffizi in 1850.
