The painting shows a still-life of strawberries, grapes, plums and a peach in a basket surrounded by flowers and other fruits and vegetables, all resting on a marble ledge.
Linthorst often used strong whites with thin strokes of colour, thus giving his flowers and fruit a delicate and almost translucent appearance, as can be seen in particular in the grapes in this still-life.
