Memento Mori
by MORIN, Jean, Engraving
This engraving represents a Memento Mori still-life engraved by Morin after a lost painting by Philippe de Champaigne. In the middle of the composition is a skull, seen frontally, on the right a vase of roses with one petal fallen, on the left a watch — the perfectly classical still-life, as impressive in its direct symbolism as those of Zurbaran.
